Cer mountain

Since it has four peaks higher than 600 m above sea level, Cer is said to be the perfect vantage point to see half of Serbia. The Savić Distillery, with its production facility and orchards, is comfortably situated somewhere below those four peaks.

A legendary mountain beauty

Emperor Trojan

Although it is also known through legends about a mythical being, the Emperor Trojan, as evidenced by the remains of a Roman fortification from the 3rd century AD, the beautiful mountain got its name from the abundance of the Turkey oak, which together with beech, oak and European hornbeam trees, forms a forest massif and gives perfect air to the whole locality. Cer is characterized by colourful landscapes, wealth and diversity of forest- and meadow wildflowers, which have pronounced sanitary-hygienic and decorative-aesthetic properties.

Rich flora and fauna

In addition to autochthonous forest species, Cer also hosts groves of wild cherry, wild apple, and wild pear. 600 different types of medicinal plants have been documented on Cer, and we must not leave out the forest wildflowers that make up a significant part of Cer. This beautiful mountain is also a natural habitat for many animal species, above all birds, of which there are over 130 species. During the flowering period in spring, numerous beekeepers from Serbia bring beehives to Cer, where they leave them and release the bees to collect pollen because of a wide expanse of black locust forests. The black locust honey from Cer is highly valued.

The Battle of Cer

Combined divisions came across a vanguard of the Austro-Hungarian army on the slopes of Cer and that is how the main part of the battle began.

Those few days of August, 1914 were days of pride and glory Those were the days when Serbian officers commanded “Follow me” instead of ” Forward march”. Those were the days when the whole world admired us for our bravery and brilliant tactics. The days when the Serbian army won the first great victory in the Great War, later called the First World War, the victory on Cer Mountain. the victory on Cer Mountain

The Savić Distillery proudly keeps the memory of our ancestors and all the heroes of Cer, and especially the famous speech of Lieutenant Tasić:

“If God allows us to win, we will be born in this war!
In this war, we are defending our fatherland – the land of our fathers, we are fighting for our sonland – the land of our sons.
Between the fatherland and the sonland, we do not exist!”

That is why we make brandy today
only for true heroes!
